Who can and should apply to this program?

How will fellows be supported throughout this program?

Preparing School Leaders

The IMPACT Arkansas Fellowship assists school districts in the selection of prospective leaders who show great promise to succeed and persist in a school leadership role. This entails preparing educators to develop their own leadership capacity to best fit the needs of their learning community. This is a departure from the traditional approach of focusing on principal’s role throughout one’s master’s coursework.

Experiential Learning

Experiential and collaborative learning is not just best for children, it’s best for people of all ages. Reading, writing, and discussing ideas are vital for learning, but ideas are wasted if learners aren’t provided opportunities to apply them in the real world. Tradesmen, musicians, athletes, and medical professionals don’t become proficient in their respective fields through discussion and observation alone; they master their craft with purposeful practice and meaningful feedback. The same holds true for educators. IMPACT fellows don’t just learn about effective school leadership; they practice it.

Collaboration and Support

IMPACT Arkansas Fellows receive extensive support as they grow beyond their comfort zones. They’re provided space and time to collaborate with other fellows, sharing best practices and learning from each other’s experiences. The IMPACT Arkansas Fellowship’s Leadership Advisor serves as a thought partner and coach as participants implement new skills and approaches at their schools. IMPACT Arkansas Fellows can build a vast, knowledgeable professional network as they interact with past and current Fellows.
